Dear all,
IIT Madras is offering a Merit-cum-means Scholarship for 02 Candidates from RGUKT Basar, Telangana for the Online program of diploma in programming or a diploma in data science.
Candidates from RGUKT Basar (E1 to E4) can apply for the same if interested (Please go through the complete details as shared below)
IIT Madras had launched BSc Degree & Diploma programmes in the areas of Programming and Data Science in June 2020. More than 10,000 students are currently enrolled and studying in this program.
Here are the various scholarship programs that we have & the eligibility to apply for the Qualifier exam. More details of the program below or you may go to: https://www.onlinedegree.iitm.
Details of Scholarship to be offered to RGUKT Basar Students ::
1. Full scholarship for female students with family income <= 5LPA to obtain a diploma/degree from IIT Madras BSc program (applies only to Local Chapter students) (applicable for RGUKT Basar)
Modalities:
The entire tuition fees will be covered for female students coming from economically disadvantaged backgrounds with family income <= 5LPA.
Students will get full reimbursement of fees paid for the Qualifier, Foundation level courses, Diploma level courses, and for the Degree level courses.
The scholarship will be given in the form of refund or reimbursement to the eligible students.
The monetary value of the scholarship will be INR 2.42 LAKHS.
2. Scholarships to 2 students coming from economically disadvantaged backgrounds who pass the qualifier exam and become eligible to register to the Foundational level. (applies only to Local Chapter students) (applicable for RGUKT Basar)
Modalities
The entire tuition fees will be given to two eligible students (male or female) to complete one diploma from IIT Madras, to start with.
Students will get reimbursement of fees paid for the Qualifier, Foundation level courses and Diploma level courses for one Diploma.
Scholarship will be given in the form of refund or reimbursement to the eligible students.
The monetary value of the scholarship will be INR 90,000.
3. Fee waiver to students based on Family Income (applies to all students)
Modalities
For students from disadvantaged backgrounds, IIT Madras offers course fee waivers of up to 75%, making the program affordable for everyone. Another built-in flexibility is the program’s pay-as-you-go model. The fee is paid every term is based on the number of courses registered in that term, providing significant financial flexibility.
Eligibility for the above scholarships (1 & 2): (applicable for RGUKT Basar)
The students should be from a partner institution of IIT Madras.
The students have to apply and pass the qualifier exam.
What are the steps for the student to avail the scholarship?
Fill the application form on https://onlinedegree.iitm.ac. for the qualifier process. The last date to apply for this term is 15th December 2021.
Watch the videos and submit assignments during the qualifier training period (date), become eligible and write the qualifier exam and pass it.
QUALIFIER CONTENT ACCESS FOR LEARNER: 27th December 2021
QUALIFIER EXAM DATE: 30th January 2022
Once the selected student registers to courses in Term 1 of the foundational level, the qualifier fee will be refunded.
When the student passes the first term and registers for courses in the next term, the fees paid for the courses passed in term 1 will be refunded. This will be repeated term after term till the students complete one diploma.
The last date to apply for this term is 15th December 2021.

While applying, Choose college as Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies, RGUKT Basar with Local chapter id as LC-664.
About the Program :
IIT Madras, India’s #1 ranked NIRF institute, launched Diploma programmes in the areas of Programming and Data Science in June 2020. More than 10000 students are currently enrolled and studying in this programme. Students enrolled in a full-time on-campus degree can also enroll in this program simultaneously to obtain this diploma from IIT Madras. In this way, as envisaged in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, students can graduate with their degree of specialization from the on-campus program and have the skill set of a data scientist or coder too.
Students can either do a diploma in programming or a diploma in data science or both. A learner has to complete the foundational level of 8 courses first and then 6 diploma level courses to get a single diploma (either in programming or data science) from IIT Madras. The course contents are offered online, but the quizzes and the end-term exams are conducted in-person, in centers across the country in an invigilated environment. It is noted that around 15-20 students who have registered for NPTEL Exam,and got Hall tickets have not paid the amount (Rs 275 or Rs 175 ).

In the case of non payment, the list of defaulters would be put up in Hub for further action.

It is observed that some of the E1 (B21 batch) students who got branch allocation in the AY 2023-24 have not yet reported to the RGUKT, Basar campus. In this connection, all the E1 students who got branch allocation are hereby informed that they should report immediately to the RGUKT, Basar campus without fail.
The students are also informed to note that if they fail to put up 40% of attendance in E1, Semester – 1, they will forfeit their seats as per University norms.
